Use whole grain wheat products instead of anything that has white flour in it. Whole wheat and grains have a lot more fiber and protein than refined wheat products. Whole grains really aid in lowering your cholesterol, and they also help make you stay fuller longer. Read the ingredient label and look for the word “whole” near the top.
Create and keep a diet that is whole grain high. When you eat whole grains you will be in better health, refined carbs are bad for you. Try to have servings of food such as whole wheat bread and brown rice, everyday. This will provide your body with the fiber it needs, as well as nutrients that refined carbohydrates lack.
Highly processed foods should be avoided as they contain trans fat. Eating foods with a large amount of trans fats in them means that you have a higher chance of suffering heart disease. HDL, or good cholesterol, is depressed by trans fats, while bad cholesterol (LDL) occurs in higher levels.
Make the most of your daily calorie allowance by eating healthy foods to fuel your body. Eating 1,800 calories of healthy fruits, vegetables, and whole grains will make you feel much better than eating 1,800 calories of cake, ice cream, and donuts. Just as it is important to monitor how much food you consume each day, you should also be concerned with what types of food you eat.
